Online Network Marketing Persistence #8

by Del Edwards

I don’t know if any of you play online games, but there is a puzzle game that I loved to play on Facebook called Bejeweled Blitz. When I was first introduced to the game I was intrigued that, although each game only lasted a mere sixty seconds, some of my friends were consistently scoring hundreds of thousands of points per game. I believe that the very first time I played the game I didn’t even score twenty thousand points and I wondered how in the world my friends were generating such high scores. I even wondered if they were cheating to “win”.

I found myself getting sucked into the game and began playing it over and over again on a daily basis. I hadn’t planned to become a Bejeweled Blitz addict, but within a relatively short period of time I found myself creating a habit that I just couldn’t shake. I would get on FB, say a few hellos, post a few comments and then head over to “just play a few games” and before I knew it HOURS had gone by. The thing about this game is that, while there is some sense of competition among friends and a desire to be at the top of the leader board, the primary drive of the game when you’re NOT at the top of the leader board is to beat your own previous high score and that desire is what seemed to compel me to always play “just one more game”.

The longer I played the game, the more I realized the “secrets” of the game. Most secrets were learned by accident. I didn’t read a manual or study others playing the game. I simply played it myself, made tons of errors, scored pitifully in the beginning and along the way picked up tips and tricks that only experience could have taught me. I can tell you that by the time I let that game go, I was consistently at the top of the leader board within my group of friends, and I eventually reached a point where it felt like the challenge was over. I quit playing for a while to explore new things and once, I even went back to play just to see if I still had the skills necessary to play the game and jump to the top of that board — I did.

You might be wondering why I’m talking about a game like Bejeweled Blitz on a blog about online network marketing… Or maybe you’ve already made the connection and you’ve gotten my point:

People who are successful fail over and over again.

Don’t ever be afraid to fail. The “secret” to online network marketing success is to simply choose ONE method of marketing and learn it WELL (one game). Focus on it exclusively for at least THIRTY to NINETY days and MASTER it before trying any other method. (I mastered Bejeweled Blitz and now I’m trying to figure out the secrets of Collapse! Blast… lol)

Just like my game, you may see others on the leader boards with “high scores” and wonder how they’re doing so well. What you’ve got to do is get in the game and play DAILY. In the beginning you should EXPECT lower scores than the leaders, but your goal should be to keep playing consistently and yours will increase over time. You might even learn some tips and tricks along the way. Just know that if you stay committed to “playing” you WILL win.

To your success!!
