Online Network Marketing Genius #11

by Del Edwards

Today I want to talk about what it means to be “smart” in the online network marketing industry. Many people who have professional degrees or who have been successful in other business arenas enter this industry and misguidedly believe that their success, their genius and their innate knowledge, which worked so well in their previous endeavors, can easily be translated into this network marketing business model.  They arrive with an attitude of superiority and believe that they have the solution to every “problem” that they see within this industry. If you are a “genius” or if you know one, let me share a very important truth with you:

The GREATEST destroyers of any network marketing opportunity are ego and arrogance. In order to win in this industry, you must learn to be humble and teachable.

The irony is that the people who have the hardest time being teachable are usually these very intelligent individuals.  I’m not suggesting that if you ARE teachable, you’re NOT intelligent… lol… NO. In fact, “ignorance on fire” is a term commonly heard in this industry, because the REAL network marketing geniuses don’t waste time with details and too much information. They find out what the bottom line bare bone requirements are for building their business and they go full steam ahead. People like me (yes, I’m talking about myself LOL) tend to slow down to read the fine print and end up throwing a wrench in the wheel. What I found out along the way, and what I want to share with you today is:

You need to be smart enough to be “dumb” enough to be teachable.

I hope you got that. If you are able to follow simple instructions, with consistency, then you will find that success in this business is SIMPLE.  In network marketing, it’s not so much about what YOU can do — it’s all about what you can DUPLICATE.  So if you become the “genius” before you become teachable then what you do and how you do it will appear to be unattainable to the masses.  In order to appeal to the largest market possible, you have to learn how to KISS — Keep It Simple and Straightforward. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways to improve in this business, and it doesn’t mean that you won’t be the one to develop the next great marketing strategy, but I would suggest that “improvements” be attempted AFTER success through simple duplication has been achieved.

When you begin to tell your story about how you “made it”, being able to share something that others can envision themselves doing is important. I’m doing what I do now because someone shared a vision with me that I was able to embrace. Success is yours if you want it, but you MUST learn to be humble and you MUST be willing to be teachable.

To your success!!
